Forrest Lee: [5 years in the GBA] Boosting "Quality Manufacturing" with Machine Hearing Technology
Shenzhen, December 9, 2020/Hong Kong Commercial Daily/ - Hong Kong entrepreneur, Forrest Lee, founded Synovate Technologies with his Hong Kong partner in Shenzhen two years ago to develop cutting-edge machine hearing technologies for quality tests of products. The system currently matches, if not surpasses, both precision and speed of global leading products.
Mr. Lee explains that machine hearing technology is based on the principles of sound and vibration, which is effective in the quality tests of rotating electromechanical products. It eliminates the problems of error-prone, subjectivity and fatigue associated with manual inspections. In addition, it is able to quickly and precisely identify and locate internal defects, thus significantly enhancing product quality.
As the world enters a new phase of industrial revolution, we are now moving from automation - which replaced human labor, to an era of intelligence - which simulates human senses and cognition with artificial intelligence. Machine hearing has not only proven to be effective in product quality control, more importantly, the high quality data generated from the tests could provide useful insights into the manufacturing process.
In recent years, China has put a lot of emphasis on quality manufacturing as the next target of maintaining its powerhouse status. The 14th Five-Year Plan proposed to establish a strong quality-oriented manufacturing industry that, at the same time, prioritizes efficiency as a policy target to maintain its stronghold in domestic and foreign markets.
On a personal note, Mr. Lee, having started his own career in Germany, has been much influenced by the German insistence on quality. While he strives for perfection in the quality of his company's products, he also hopes that Synovate's reliable high-tech products can make significant contribution to the next stage of industrial revolution.
